Jean-Paul BERTRAND
Originally from Montreal and now living in Laval, J.P. Bertrand began his career as an industrial draftsman, working in architecture and then for the City of Laval. Driven by a thirst for adventure, he then spent five years in the French Foreign Legion, serving in France, French Guiana, and Madagascar—experiences that enriched his artistic sensibility. Upon returning to Quebec, he continued his work in drawing and computer graphics until his retirement in 2007, at which point he devoted himself entirely to his art. A self-taught artist, he trained in stone carving at the Stanley Lewis Academy, a discipline that has become his primary means of expression. Since 2009, he has worked with Atelier 213 and is a member of several professional sculptors' associations.
J.P. Bertrand is president of the AALE of Canada.
